foot skinby chris.i stood on the apex of the warped desk and let the water drain out of my shoes and roll down the desk and onto the floor. with so much rain outside i had to cover my face with your scarf and wrap my fingers in plastic, my hands in seaweed, my body in nectar, leaving nothing for my feet. the water soaked into my shoes and wrinkled my feet and softened my skin. i was sure some of the skin drained out my shoes as well. the fear of the skin on my feet completely melting away worried me in a constant way, a blistering sort of worry. how would i get around with no foot skin? in a panic i threw myself upon the desk and tried to collect the rain water so i could mash my skin back onto my feet, but due to the tilt of the desk, like a mountain of hard sod, warped also from the rain, i could not collect the water and skin. i threw myself onto the carpet below and tried to scrape the water out of the carpet to collect it into a cup. this too did not work, so i took off my wet shoes and wiped my feet upon the carpet, trying to soak my foot skin back up onto my feet. but the joke was entirely on me: my skin hadn't washed off of my feet as i had thought, but because of the softening from the rain my foot skin sluffed off quite easily as i rubbed my feet on the carpet. what am i supposed to do with no foot skin? |
